Benefits of Montessori
In 2006, Angeline Lillard published an article in the prestigious journal Science comparing the outcomes of Montessori versus conventional education. The Montessori students were not only more advanced academically, they were also better socially adjusted including conflict resolution abilities. The full Science article can be downloaded for free by following the links in Lillard's website.
Lillard is also the author of the book The Science Behind The Genius, wherein she identifies relatively recent quantitative scientific studies that affirm the qualitative observations made by and codified by Dr. Montessori a century ago.
The greatest benefit from a Montessori education is the lifelong self-learning. It stems from the self-control learned in the earliest years as well as of course the self-learning that is fostered by the "prepared environment" of a Montessori classroom.
